Oats benefit several body organs and systems, including: skin, nervous system, stomach, spleen, lungs, and the urinary and reproductive systems. Oats are high in:
- Protein (interestingly, wild oats contain from 27-37% protein while cultivated varieties average about 17%). According to the World Health Organization, oat protein is equivalent in quality to soy protein. So, equal to meat, milk and egg protein.
- Soluble fiber (the fiber that helps keep cholesterol levels low)
- Levels of iron, manganese, zinc, and B vitamins (pantothenic acid, B5, and folate, B9)
Wheat germ is rich in fiber for heart health, cancer protection and good digestive function. In addition, it’s a great source of vitamins like B complex and vitamin E. Wheat germ is one of the very best sources of zinc.
Ginger is beneficial for dogs that are in poor health - with poor appetite; poor blood circulation; and a deep and slow pulse. Also good for digestive system, helps with flatulence and helps alleviate motion sickness.
Parsley helps with fresh breath and can also be used to treat dogs with anemia. The leaves also have antiseptic properties and are helpful in treating urinary tract infections. In addition, it is a calmnative herb which strengthens intestinal muscles. It is therefore effective in treating colic and flatulent dyspepsia. contains more vitamin C than any other vegetable and three times more than oranges. It adds great colour & flavour to our treats.
Cinnamon has anti-inflammatory properties, which reduces the stiffness and help ease the pain associated with this muscoskeletal disorder. Cinnamon is good for the heart as its calcium and fiber content is effective in fighting heart diseases. Cinnamon is noted to improve blood circulation because of its blood thinning compound content. With regular consumption, the chances of canine heart disorders will be significantly reduced. Moreover, with good blood circulation, the supply of oxygen to the different cells of the body is ensured giving the dog the capability for higher metabolic activity. Cinnamon has anti-fungal and antibacterial properties thus it is highly effective in dealing with external and internal infections.
Basil and Oregano both act as antioxidants.
Apples are a great source of vitamin C, antioxidants and pectin. Pectin is fibre found in apple skin. It ferments in the intestines producing short-chain fatty acids, which prevents the growth of harmful bacteria and helps to fight cancer. Grated apple proves very popular with most dogs. Carrots are not only tasty, they are packed full of beta-carotene. In addition to giving the carrot its name and orange color, it also converts to vitamin A in the body which helps improve vision.
Almonds are a high protein content, heart-healthy monounsaturated fats and vitamin E, and a lower fat content than most other nuts. They are also the highest nut for calcium.

Rice Malt Syrup is used as a replacement for honey to cater for our Diabetic clients.It is made by culturing rice with enzymes to breakdown the starches and then cooking it until it becomes a syrup. The final product contains soluble complex carbohydrates, maltrose and a small amount of glucose which is absorbed into the bloodstream immediately, while the maltrose takes up to 1 and 1/2 hours to digest then the complex carbohydrates take from 2 - 3 hours, thus providing a steady supply of energy.

Compared with other oils, rice bran oil has a lower amounts of mono-unsaturated and poly-unsaturated fats.In addition, rice bran oil contains antioxidants and is appropriate for DOGS that may have food sensitivities or allergies.

All Tinkers Barkery treats are vacuum sealed to ensure the utmost freshness. Un-opened treats will stay fresh in the vacuum sealed bags for months if they are kept in a cool dry place. Once opened, refrigerate your treats in an air tight container & make sure your Pooch devours all of their treats within two weeks or freeze them for a longer life.
